New York City, New York Aug 12, 2024 (Issuewire.com) - The 52nd Street Project, a non-profit organization known for bringing children from the Hells Kitchen neighborhood together with professional theater artists to produce original shows, is giving a voice to creativity in its Summer One-on-Ones production, LOOK WHOS TALKING, PLAYS THAT SPEAK TO YOU from August 16 through 18, 2024 at the Five Angels Theater (789 Tenth Avenue, 2nd Floor; between 52nd & 53rd Streets).
A beloved summer tradition, the One-on-One program is a crown jewel at The 52nd Street Project, offering its young members a thrilling leap into the world of performing. Each budding star is paired with a dedicated playwright who crafts a unique, tailor-made two-character play just for them and a professional adult actor, forming dynamic duos ready to bring their stories to life. During a week-long artistic retreat, creativity buzzes as the young participants dive into the fundamentals of performing, with spontaneous rehearsals and sneak-peek performances building excitement. The program culminates in a spectacular three-day showcase at the Projects Five Angels Theater in Manhattan, where these original productions take center stage, completely free for all to enjoy.
LOOK WHOS TALKING, PLAYS THAT SPEAK TO YOU will feature the wildly imaginative work of 8 adult writers drawing inspiration from one thing: a randomly selected form of communication. Kyle Cameron, Molly Carden, Marchánt Davis, Christian DeMarais, Betsy Hogg, Kim Jinhyoung, Maryn Shaw, & Mirirai Sithole, and more will be bringing their vibrant energy to the stage in these One-on-Ones. Audiences of all ages can expect to laugh out loud as pairs of adult actors and Project members take the stage across three performances to bring these hilariously expressive plays to life.
