London, United Kingdom Nov 17, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - The 100% volunteer-run charity Mandir, Yog Foundation has been recognised for outstanding community service in Bromley and beyond and will receive the prestigious Kings Award for Voluntary Service.
This national honour the highest for voluntary groups in the UK, equivalent to an MBE marks a major milestone in Yog Foundations journey of service and charity.
Mandir, Yog Foundation is only the second organisation from Bromley borough to win such an accolade in recent years. Its a strong affirmation of the role the charity plays in bringing the diverse community together to do good.
The Kings Award for Voluntary Service is awarded annually by His Majesty to UK-based organisations that are wholly or predominantly run by volunteers, have been operating for at least three years and deliver a real benefit to society. Yog Foundation is entirely run by volunteers which speaks to the depth of commitment and spirit of service (seva) that defines the organisation.
Through the dedication of its volunteers, Mandir Yog Foundation provides a wide range of award-winning services. All its initiatives are free of charge and open to all. They include: hot meal distributions in partnership with local food banks, senior citizens social club to combat loneliness, numerous health and wellbeing programmes, education and mentoring for young people, a variety of events that bring people together, and much more. The award recognises not only what Mandir, Yog Foundation does, but how it does it: acting as an incubator of ideas for good, which allows people of all ages to give back to their local communities. We are immensely honoured to receive this recognition, said Chetan Halai, Chief Executive of Yog Foundation. This award belongs to our volunteers who are of all ages and backgrounds, students, full time workers or business people and retired, who give their time, passion and care to serving our communities in Bromley and Bexley. We are motivated by the young people we mentor, the families we support, the community events we host and this national acknowledgement spurs us on to do even more.
The formal award will be recognised at a Palace reception in the summer, but the community cannot stop celebrating after receiving of the wonderful news. Looking ahead, Mandir, Yog Foundation is looking to expanding its volunteer base, deepening its service to the local area, and exploring new partnerships with local schools, community groups and civic bodies to ensure that more people are connected, supported and empowered.
