Mississauga, Ontario Nov 27, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - Alectra Utilities has been honoured by the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) for its generous contribution toward restoring power to Ukrainian schools devastated by Russias relentless missile and drone strikes.
During a presentation to Alectras Board of Directors on November 21, UWC President Paul Grod highlighted the severe destruction of Ukraines energy and civilian infrastructure caused by over three and a half years of attacks, which have intensified in recent weeks. Grod emphasized that more than 50% of Ukraines energy infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, leaving millions of Ukrainians facing a dark and cold winter.
As part of its commitment to humanitarian support, Alectra donated $100,000 to UWCs Energize Ukraine initiative, a program supported by partners including Rodan Energy Solutions. These funds were used to build a solar-powered microgrid with battery storage at a school northeast of Kyiv. This system ensures that children have access to light and heat during the winter months and serves as a community resiliency center during outages.
Paul Grod presented a plaque of appreciation to Jane Armstrong, Chair of Alectras Board, and Brian Bentz, President and CEO, recognizing the leadership of Alectras Board, shareholders, and customers for their solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
I am very honoured that Alectras leadership has committed to support the people of Ukraine. A sincere thank you to CEO Brian Bentz, Board Chair Jane Armstrong, and Past Chair Norm Loberg for their generous support. Your contribution is helping Ukrainian communities remain resilient in the face of unimaginable hardship, stated Grod.
Brian Bentz, President and CEO of Alectra, added: At Alectra, we believe in the power of community and resilience. Supporting Ukraine during this time of crisis reflects our commitment to helping people overcome challenges and build a brighter future. We are proud to stand with the Ukrainian World Congress and contribute to a project that brings light and hope to children and families.
